The 2024 NFL Draft Combine has arrived, and we’re here to break down who you should be looking out for on Thursday. The Defensive Line and Linebackers will try to improve their draft stock in Indianapolis.
Edge Rushers
Laiatu Latu | DE | UCLA:
Latu is one of the biggest guys to watch in this combine. He’ll get his medical tests done, which could determine whether he goes Top 10 or falls out of the first round all together.
Dallas Turner | DE | Alabama
A good showing at the combine can secure Turners place as a Top 10 pick in the draft. He should be one of the quickest DE’s at the combine, and will look to outperform the other high-tier DE’s in this class.
Jared Verse | DE | FSU
Verse is projected to be the 3rd DE picked behind Turner and Latu, but he’ll be trying to show scouts his unique skillset and cement his spot in the Top 20.
Chop Robinson | DE | PSU
Chop will want to show NFL teams that he is the fastest DE at the combine, and also the most agile. He could cement his position as a first rounder with a good combine.
Austin Booker | DE | Kansas
A sleeper guy who has been shooting up draft boards after a few NFL teams showed strong interest. His 40yd dash time will help prove to scouts that he hasn’t lost his speed even after putting on weight to compete at the NFL level. He could become a 2nd round pick if he performs at the combine.
Defensive Tackles
Byron Murphy II | DT | Texas vs Jer’Zhan Newton | DT | Illinois
The 2 premier DTs in the draft will be fighting for draft position, as there is still no consensus DT1 in the draft. The bench press and agility drills will play a big part in separating these guys.
T’Vondre Sweat | DT | Texas
Murphy’s teammate at Texas, Sweat will also be trying to improve his draft stock. If he performs well, he could become an Early 2nd or even a Late 1st round pick.
Linebackers
Edgerrin Cooper | MLB | Texas A&M
Cooper will be looking to improve his draft position in a relatively weak LB draft. He’s currently projected as a Mid 2nd but he could improve to an Early 2nd with a good combine performance.
